meaning - "Going to" vs. "going to go to"

What is the difference between the meanings of the following sentences?

1. 
   

   If I were going to Rome next week, I would be trying to find accommodation.

   
   


2. 
   

   If I were going to go to Rome next week, I would be trying to find accommodation.

   
   

I'm confused here, because i can see no difference in meaning between these two sentences.
